3/31-4/1

Okay first things first! Throwback to my London post. Remember when I said I forgot what I did on Friday in the late afternoon?! Well I remembered! We all went back to the hostel to drop the girl's shopping bags off. I wanted to keep going and explore but the girls weren't really up to it. The British Museum was only 1/2 a mile away and I wanted to go so Cassidy came with me while Kiana and Caitlin stayed at the hostel and....idk what they did...hung out I guess.
At the British Museum we saw the Rosetta Stone and other various Egyptian artifacts, Roman and Greek mosaics, artifacts from Japan, India, America, England, and China. I enjoyed it I thought that it was pretty cool.

Yesterday was Monday....what happened...oh! I remember now, I had class at 830 in the morning so I got up early and walked the 3 or 4 miles to school in 40 minutes to make it to class on time. When I walked into class my teacher, Suki Fisher, had seen my Abbey Road pictures from the weekend and asked me "Since you've been down Abbey Road now it's okay if you go home, right?"

For history we had a lecture for three hours and then walked to the local castle (It's not really much of a castle. It is really more of a tower that was used as a jail until 1996 and now it is a museum). We walked up the tight spiral staircase to get to the top of the tower and our tour guide told us a couple stories about the tower. On the way down I was the first coming down. Off the steps there were a couple hallways. I got a really immature idea (as I usually do) and hid in one of the hallways. I saw a girl coming down holding a blue bag like the one my friend Sarah has so I jumped out and said "Boo!" Turned out, as luck would have it, it was my teacher! I was so scared/surprised that it was her. I felt extremely bad and when we got back down to the bottom of the staircase I apologized. I guess I will find out if she accepts my apology when my grade goes into the system.

Today was my Shakespeare class so nothing interesting to talk about, but after Shakespeare a small group of us went to a fudge making demonstration. There we got to try samples until we were full and got a slice of fudge along with the presentation (It was only 5 pounds and just slice of fudge is only 5 pounds). We saw the girl pour out and form and handle the fudge which looks like a tedious task. After she was done she gave each of us a piece of the fresh fudge which was delicious! For my free slice of fudge I got Snickers! It tastes like Snickers...but in fudge form which is pretty bomb.

After dinner Jake and I met up with Suki and Michael at Blackwells (which is the largest bookstore I have ever been in. I forget if I have mentioned it before but it's larger than my house in Mission Viejo. Probably easily twice the size) and went to a poetry reading. I am not into poetry but it was either that or stay home and
 A) watch a movie by myself
 or
B) Do homework
So naturally I went to the reading. One guy got up and asked if there were any other Americans so the five of us (Hayley joined us also) raised our hands along with a few others in the room. He said that this poem was for us and he had written it in a class that had a Hungarian teacher and the poem, which was about America, made the teacher feel awkward. The five of us kind of groaned and sunk in our seats a little bit while the reader read how great America is and our heroes. As his voice got louder and louder the more patriotic I had grew but there were some snickers throughout the crowd. So all in all, it was a great poem but wrong setting.  Michael and Suki read poems that were both really good but really dark that allowed you to see their inner feelings.

After, I went to the pub with Jake and Michael because Jake met a large group of people last Tuesday night and they invited him to join their group. So I came along with him this week and met this group of people. I was a little skeptical at first because I was not sure what to expect but I had a lot of fun. I met people from all over the world! I met people from the Netherlands, Bolivia, Italy, Scotland, Germany, Turkey, Romania, and other places. It is a group called Couch Surfers ( It is an organization of people who meet up and open up their homes for free so travelers can have a place to sleep) who meet at different pubs each week and hang out and meet new people. It was cool you would just walk up to a random group of people and introduce yourself and start talking with them. Everyone was super nice and welcoming and willing to talk. I stayed for quite some time until we realized the buses might stop soon so we had to leave.

Tomorrow is a big day! I have decided that my Spring Break destination will be Italy! I will be traveling to Rome, Florence, and Venice. Hopefully in that order but I will have to see because I would be in Rome during Easter and I am not sure how crazy it will all be.

Also I will be booking a trip to Paris next weekend. I will hopefully be leaving Wednesday and returning Sunday. These weekends are crazy because I got into Oxford the first weekend, this past weekend I was in London, this coming weekend I will be in York, the next weekend would be Paris, and then Spring Break is the weekend after that! Crazy times out in Europe, crazy times...
